Your Role
Gensler's Los Angeles, CA office is seeking a Digital Design / BIM / Revit Leader. The role of the Digital Design Leader is to promote, implement, support and strategize within the four areas of Digital Design (DD): Building Information Modeling, Design Visualization, Computational Design and Performance Design.
This position will have relevant proficiency in the proposed BIM authoring and coordination software, utilizing a Revit platform. The Digital Design Leader will act as a mentor to the project teams on the best practices of moving through the lifecycle of a project. He or she advises Project Architects and Project Managers, and works with as well as manages expectations on multiple teams.
The Digital Design Leader will establish goals and project plans in support of projects, monitor and report on progress in completing projects and accomplishing goals, and establish, communicate and interpret changes in guidelines, policies, procedures and other related matters.

Additional responsibilities are as follows:
Ensures development and compliance with the approved BIM Execution and BIM Scope Plans
Assumes responsibility for the proper classification of all spaces, data and equipment in the model to ensure direction comparison with downstream use for facility management
Coordinates software training and team file management
Assembles composite design model for coordination meetings
Assures that the design deliverables specified in the contract are provided in accordance with the formats specified
Coordinates BIM file exchange and archiving of milestone submittals
Assures information is provided at milestone submittals
Assures proper BIM derived 2D information for paper printing as required and conforms to the Project/Client CAD standards
Coordinates with the builder to assure the creation of proper BIM final deliverables
Responsible for the development, coordination, publication, and verification that all necessary configurations required for seamless integration of design and construction model information have been implemented
Coordinates the set-up of shared file server with IT staff. This shall include interfacing with IT staff to set up web portal, permissions, etc.
Facilitates use of composite design models in design coordination/clash detection meetings and provides detection reports by the identification and resolution of all hard and soft collisions
Ensures that the four areas of Digital Design are used appropriately to test design requirements/criteria for functionality
Interfaces with Design Team and IT to ensure software is installed and operating properly
Determines the project BIM geo-reference point(s), and assures ALL technical discipline models are properly referenced
Your Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design or equivalent, with 10-15 years of experience in design or construction practice
Expert knowledge of and proven practical background in Autodesk Revit Architecture and related Building Information Modeling software
Experience with Autodesk Green Building Studios
Experience with the Tally Life Cycle Analysis Plug-In to Revit
Experience with Architecture Level 3 modeling
Experience in large scale project setup and management in Revit (e.g.; airports, convention centers, stadiums)
Experience in creating custom project and family templates (templates will have to match BEP requirements)
Experience in providing model and meta-data information for direct integration into facilities management and cost estimation processes
Experience in high Level of Development modeling
Expertise in modeling and sharing multiple alternatives/iterations, including facades and interior layouts;
Expertise in Revit model design to produce good quality quantity takeoffs/Bill of Materials;
Significant experience in coordinating Revit model sharing with consulting partners (for Energy Modeling) and manufacturers (for curtain wall, rooftop PV…);
Experience with IES-VE and bioclimatic design studies (and Revit integration);
Familiarity with legacy CAD applications and practices, particularly AutoCAD
Familiarity with Design Visualization applications such as Autodesk 360 (Cloud Rendering), 3D Studio Max (and Mental Ray and/or VRay), Rhino (and Vray), Sketch up, Navisworks, FormIt, etc.
Familiarity with Computational Designapplications such as Dynamo and Grasshopper, etc.
Familiarity with applications such as Vasari, Autodesk 360 Analysis Tools (ex. Daylighting, Wind, Energy, etc.), Sefaira, IES, and Ecotect
Articulate communicator able to convey Digital Design concepts to all levels of design and delivery professionals
