CallisonRTKL Architects P.C. seeks an Interior Designer to join the Workplace Practice Group located in the New York City office. This position will have experience in Workplace or Corporate Interior design and a clear understanding of design constructability, detailing, and building code analysis.  As a designer at CallisonRTKL, you will join a highly collaborative and creative team dedicated to excellence in design and innovative problem solving. The ideal candidate for this position will be organized, detailed-oriented and a self-starting individual driven to succeed.


  • Develops interior design concepts, prepare specifications and color boards
  • Designs and draws interior plans, elevations, and details
  • Develops permit and working drawings, including technical detailing and interfacing with specifications department
  • Works with intermediate and senior level staff to review work for design integrity, accuracy, clarity and quality
  • Participates in conceptual design development activities, including making adaptations and modifications and assisting other designers in specific aspects of overall design
  • Researches materials, codes/specifications as they relate to planning solutions including exiting and life safety and recommend appropriate selections
  • Assists with coordination of fixture, furniture and equipment installation
  • Assists in space planning and programming activities, including leading a client in these activities
  • Documents information and maintains project records
  • Plans work and develops fee estimates
  • May assist with proposal and contract writing
  • Provides quality support and initiative to further overall business goals and objectives
  • Actively pursues continuous improvement and ease of doing business to meet or exceed customer needs
  • Commits to learning about the field of architecture and design and incorporating the knowledge into day-to-day business practices
  • May act as client interface and project leader throughout the project
  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture or related design field from an accredited school
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as Project Architect or Interior Designer
  • Corporate interiors experience is highly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of the design process, including color and materials, furniture systems FF&E, and specifications
  • Demonstrated experience with Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign use on active projects
  • Ability to focus on a single project or multiple, concurrent projects in various stages of development
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and direct others daily tasks
  • Ability to communicate design ideas and direction quickly, both verbally and graphically
  • Strong leadership, organization, communication and relationship management skills
  • LEED accreditation preferred
